Remarks for Richard Avedon

Richard Avedon's photos on the American West were in a sense revolutionary in that they depicted the lifestyle of the people residing in that region with emotion by showing them in motion. Prior years, the showcasing of models used the sense of stillness, with out the use of emotion seen in Avedon's work. His work changed the perception of how models should be shown in advertisements, and his signature plain white background became the new staple in fashion photography. Within the confines of the American West, Avedon captured the hard fought battles the average american had to endure to achieve what is so called the "American Dream" It was a change of the usual for him as in years past because he traditionally used celebrities in their element against white background. The American West gave the audience a sense of realism and a chance to connect with the individual being photographed because they were average everyday Americans striving hard to fulfill their dreams.
